What drives the price

  • How hard your pump works. High water table homes may need a bigger pump, a second pump or a heavy-duty backup.
  • Feet of drain tile. Interior drain tile is priced mostly by the foot.
  • Finished space. Drywall, flooring and built-ins add removal and repair cost.
  • Structural repairs. Bracing a bowing block wall costs more than sealing a crack.
  • Moisture control. A whole-basement dehumidifier is a separate line item from leak repair.

Questions

Why does one quote include two pumps?

In homes where water comes in fast, a second pump in the basin shares the load and takes over if the first fails. It costs more up front but protects against the most common flood cause.

Is a backup worth the money?

In high water table areas, usually yes. Power outages often come with the storms that fill your basin.

Does homeowners insurance cover this?

Waterproofing itself is usually considered maintenance. Some policies offer sump pump backup coverage for damage; ask your agent.
